CME Membership

Reduce Futures Trading Exchange Fees by Applying for a Membership or Leasing a Seat at the CME.

High-volume futures traders of CME products can significantly reduce their trading costs by participating in CME Membership Programs. CME Group memberships may be purchased, sold, or leased, and allow approved members to trade eligible products at substantially reduced exchange fees.

For example, non-member retail traders currently pay $1.18 per side, per contract in CME Exchange Fees, plus $0.02 per side in NFA fees when trading the E-mini S&P 500 (ES). CME members, however, do not pay NFA fees and benefit from lower exchange fees, resulting in meaningful savings—especially for active traders placing multiple trades per day.

Over time, these reduced fees can add up to thousands of dollars in annual savings, making CME membership an attractive option for professional and high-volume futures traders.

Understanding Risks

Trading futures, options on futures, and forex involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. The use of leverage is not suitable for all investors and losses exceeding your initial deposit is possible. Carefully consider whether trading is suitable for you in light of your circumstances, knowledge, and financial resources and only risk capital should be used. Opinions, market data, and recommendations are subject to change at any time. The lower the margin used the higher the leverage and therefore increases your risk. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.
